The laparoscopic spay (also known as a lap spay or keyhole spay) is a minimally invasive procedure to remove a female dog’s ovaries. Minimally invasive surgery causes less tissue trauma, is less painful, is associated with fewer complications and promotes a quicker recovery time.
The procedure involves two very small incisions closed with dissolvable sutures, which routinely heal within 5–6 days. Patients can usually return to normal exercise 3–5 days post-surgery.
Your dog will require a pre-op check with the vet within 7 days prior to the procedure — there is no charge for this check.
We do not advise lap spay for older dogs, those that suffer from phantom pregnancies or dogs that have had multiple litters, due to changes in the uterus. In these cases we would recommend a traditional spay.
A deposit of £350 is taken at the time of booking and deducted from the remaining balance on the day of the procedure.
