Christmas comes but once a year!

It may be the time of year for fun and festive fare but Christmas holds many pitfalls for our family pets.  Xmas tree ribbons and tinsel may look beautiful on the tree but don’t forget that they often are attractive to young pups and kittens and, if swallowed, may lead to intestinal blockage.  Dropped pine needles can also cause irritation to sensitive paws and pads.
 for that special Xmas treat!

Around the tree is often a place to store the Xmas chocs and selection boxes. This may prove too tempting for your dog. Chocolate, especially the plain variety, can be very toxic to dogs. Specially formulated Pet Chocolate is the safer option.

We humans are often guilty of over-indulging in rich foods throughout the festive period but don’t forget that overfeeding out pets in the spirit of "seasonal generosity" can often result in gastro-intestinal upsets and weight gain. Overfeeding your pet snacks like roast turkey, sausages, mince pies may result in a trip to
THE VETS during that relaxing holiday period! Christmas treats  can be rationed  to ensure that  your pets  enjoy  their Christmas with you and yet remain festive but fit!

Merry Christmas from all at Heath Veterinary Clinic.
